Whoever builds the house sets the parameters for w

Whoever builds the house sets the parameters for what is possible within it. Burned by the gains of the Civil Rights Movement and seething from a 1983 Supreme Court ruling that struck down segregation (Bob Jones vs USA), southern White men constructed the abortion debate framework in 1983 as a staging ground for cultural warfare.

Pro-life vs Pro-choice is an inhuman frame. It is meant to draw battle lines. It is meant to set the stage for winners and losers. It is so last-century. And it is inaccurate. Those who built the pro-life frame have proven beyond a shadow of doubt, what they really cared about is white life.

They profited off the breeding and sale of our Black babies.

They NEVER fought against the forced hysterectomies of Black and Brown and Asian and Native American women.

They dump toxins in our water supply and give our babies and mothers cancer.

They zone our neighborhoods out of access to fresh food and target our children for fake food that produces heart disease and childhood diabetes!

They kill our children with their police and then do backflips with double-twists to declare the “legality” of their death.

We know that poverty is one of two main drivers of abortion. Yet, the same party that claims to be pro-life consistently cuts funding for schools with majority Black and Brown populations, cuts funding for SNAP, and is hell-bent on killing Obamacare—which helped to lift tens of millions of people out of poverty.

I’m leaving this 20th century house of war. I want nothing to do with it. In that house, Black and Brown bodies burn as the collateral damage of white men’s culture war.

I.am.literally without words. The level of my rage, if released, would take me outside of my body screaming from my marrow.

Breonna Taylor was asleep. She did NOTHING wrong.

Yet, the BLACK REPUBLICAN Attorney General, who was a star at the GOP Convention, announced his finding that “according to the law” the officers were in the right to shoot to kill Breonna “because her boyfriend fired on the police.” AND The only officer to be charged was indicted because he aimed poorly. His poor aim endangered the neighbors.

Excuse me while I break this down.

1. The Castle Doctrine says EVERYONE has the right to defend themselves inside their home.

2. The AG reported that one witness says the police announced themselves. He omitted the FACT that 11 other witnesses declared the police did not announce themselves—and why would they announce themselves on a NO KNOCK WARRANT.

3. Breonna did not fire on the police. Yet, the AG justified her death based on her boyfriend’s LEGAL action.

5. The Grand Jury was never asked to rule on ANY charges related to Breonna’s death. Her death was ERASED from the record all together BY A BLACK MAN, beholden to white supremacists for the power he has.

6. The clear message: Black Lives Do Not Matter to the law.

7. This is NOT justice. This is some bullshit.

What does this mean? It means any officer could break into any Black person’s home and kill them and get away with it, as long as they aim well.

How do we stop this? How do we realize a world where Black lives actually matter?

We vote for Breonna. Her vote was stolen by a white man’s bullet. He will still get to vote in this election.

MULTIPLY BREONNA’S VOTE BY VOTING ON HER BEHALF.

In 1993, President Bill Clinton nominated Ruth Bader Ginsburg to the Supreme Court, the second woman appointed to the position. She was not first on his list. For months, Clinton flirted with other potential nominees, and some women's rights activists withheld their active support because they were worried about Ginsburg's views on abortion. She had been publicly critical of the legal reasoning in Roe v. Wade.⁠

But in the background, Marty Ginsburg was lobbying hard for his wife. And finally, Ruth Ginsburg was invited for a meeting with the president. As one White House official put it afterward, Clinton "fell for her — hook, line and sinker." So did the Senate. She was confirmed by a 96-3 vote.

The stakes for people of color and women and LGBTQIA and disabled people and immigrants just became absolute and existential.

EVERYTHING IS AT STAKE.

Disabled People’s Rights
Indigenous Rights
Environmental Rights

It is okay to sit in the silence left by her passing for now. Listen for the voice of God in that space. There, we will find two things; overwhelming love and unbridled courage.
